Rd46078845: M1897 Altered Gun Lift vice Altered Lift

[[Battery Rawlins]], [[Battery Revere]] and [[Battery Wilhelm]] were built starting in 1897 and completed 1899 as a single large unnamed battery with four 10" and two 12" rifles, all Barbette mounted. The large Battery was initially named [[Battery Wilhelm]] in 1902 when it was accepted for service and administrative separated into three batteries in 1906. The part that became [[Battery Rawlins]] was originally armed with two 10" M1888MII rifles mounted on M1893 Barbette carriages. The part that became [[Battery Revere]] was armed similarly to [[Battery Rawlins]]. [[Battery Wilhelm]] became the middle battery armed with two 12" M1888MII rifles mounted on M1897 Altered Gun Lift Carriages.

I specialize in US coastal fortifications and the US Navy, but I have some knowledge of all the US Armed Forces. I have been editing Wikipedia since August 2013, with significant contributions to over 120 articles. These include 44 articles on individual forts and 23 articles on US coast defense weapons. I am an American Civil War buff, but have relatively few references for this. I am a member of the Coast Defense Study Group and have "American Seacoast Defenses: A Reference Guide", along with other books on US forts. I have a scanned file of the gun and carriage cards for the 4.72" Armstrong guns and will be editing related pages.
